ISLAMIC THEOLOGYIslamic Theology
The ProgrammeThe programme Islamic Theology is one of the programmes taught at the IUR. It has a total load of 240 EC, consisting of two exams; the exam of the first year and the final exam. Each exam includes an examination of the knowledge, understanding, professional and research practice skills and attitude development of the student. The level is in general as follows: the first year consists of introductory islamic courses. In the second year, these courses are studied in depth. In the third year other religion-oriented courses are offered alongside the Islamic courses. The fourth year consists merely of writing a thesis and an internship. This is the vertical structure. In horizontal sense, the focus is on offering courses which are most useful for students in functioning as a spiritual caretaker. The integrity of the programme is under the responsibility of the BaMa opleidingsdirectie (management) that is supported by a number of commissions, including the examination Commission and Progamme Commission. Studying as full-time or part-timeThe programme is offered on a full-time basis. Part-time study is possible only in exceptional circumstances and after approval of the Faculty Board, in this case, a written request is required. Accreditation and degreesThis programme is not yet accredited by the Dutch and Flemish Accreditation organization (NVAO).
