In 1998-1999 IUR students have formed a council to represent themselves. Increase in the number of the students, and interest of the students in social activities made the formation of a student council necessary. Students tried to make the Student Council a larger organization in 1999-2000. Student council is in relationship with other management organs in the IUR and it trades ideas, actions and takes advice from the management organs. Student Council has activities going on in both Holland and rest of the world. For example, Student Council represented the IUR in a conference for university students in Islamic Universities. The conference was held in Amman, in 1999. The Executive Board gives the students the opportunity to establish a student council. This council is attached to the University. The Executive Board provides information about the composition of the Executive Board, the Board of Governors, and the organization of the University to the Students Council in a written rapport. The Executive Board informs the Students Council, at least once a year, in a written document, about the policy of the previous year and the policy plans of the next year, concerning the University’s finance, organization, and education. The Executive Board meets the Students Council at least twice a year. The Students Council has the authority to bring the students’ advice about the University’s facilities for students within the University to the Executive Board. The Students Council informs all involved parties about its activities in an annual report. The council has the right of approval with regard to the University plan, the educational and research capacity of the university, the student statutes, and the regulations for management and administration, the care of student facilities, the initiation and termination of training courses and the rules with regard to welfare, safety, and health. The Faculty Students’ Councils Each faculty has its own Students Council, consisting of four members. The number of members is determined in the faculty regulation. The Faculty Board provides information about the composition of the Faculty Board and the organization of the faculty to the Students Council in a written rapport. The Faculty Board informs the Students Council, at least once a year, in a written document, about the policy of the previous year and the policy plans of the next year, concerning the faculty’s finance, organization, and education. The Faculty Board meets the Students Council at least twice a year. The Faculty Board asks advice from the Students Council about the faculty’s facilities for the students, the course of events, and the education facilities within the faculty. The Students’ Council informs the parties involved about its activities in an annual report. |
